Home again home again jiggity jig

OK first off I want to thank everyone I met & played with in Canada, Big ups Club Walmer (Including the VIP list), Massive love to the ex Owen Sound posse, Hugs & Kisses to the Guelph Girls, Represent Ireland Lads, Get a real job Rogers crew, Keep rolling Boathouse lot and keep it real to all the non posse independents. Thanks to all that came to my leaving party...It was a great messy night.

My return to New Zealand was not without delays...but this is what I’ve come to expect from international travel. The plane was delayed by 30min before take off because the left wing was not fully attached to the plane. No big thing apart from the pilot coming on & saying we could make up the time in the air...now I know that this topic has been covered by Stand-up Comedians but I think it needs to be revisited...Presumably to make up the time in the air the plane either goes faster or takes a more direct flight path, now why can’t they always do that. I’m paying the massive price to get from A to B...I want to get to B as fast as possible!

Then when I get to NZ there is no happy welcoming party (Well there is but they are going to have to wait a little longer) As a Kiwi I’m very proud of our native diversity, so coming back in with the wet tobacco for my Hookah pipe I made sure to declare it so as not to accidently import the dreaded Gallipoli Weevil & wipe out the New Zealand Feijoa industry. “The Man” didn’t seem to give a flying monkeys about the tobacco but was very interested in the ancient instrument I was bringing back to smoke the tobacco. It turns out that New Zealand has taken a massive step backwards all in the name of the “War on Drugs” and has banned any instrument that filters via water...Yeah that will stop the kids being silly! So 40 minutes later & with a slightly difficult walk I exited customs to waiting friends & family.

A couple of nights later I’m on my way to my bros stag do with a sense of trepidation. A month earlier I had been informed that we would be Go-Karting...SWEET! But they would be electric go-karts, suddenly I had a vision of early middle aged men driving golf karts in circles...think Shriners but minus the Fezs. Luckily I was wrong, remember kids, an electric engine has infinite torque, so the karts were as powerful as any I’ve driven & according to the guys running the place ours had been detuned. I’m happy to say I was much better at the karting than the drunken Singstar that we finished the night with.

So I’ve been back to the folks place twice now in the month, firstly to welcome a new member to the family...Welcome Olivia... & then to kill a tree & celebrate Xmas. The wedding was cool, even if it was dry. It was great catching up with family & friends, with Xmas being more of the same.

I went to Waihi Beach on Boxing Day to catch up with Dan & Ali who were over from Sydney for Xmas and went for my first real swim in some time...incorporating salt water & descent waves. Helpful hint: When making Bloody-Mary’s or Caeser’s don’t skimp on the Worcestershire Sauce...Lee & Perrins is the only way to go.

Now I’m back in Auckland ready to get a real job & see if I can settle into NZ life.
